Jonas Chartock
Jonas Chartock was hired as President & CEO of the Charter School Policy Institute in January, 2005. Upon graduating from Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations in 1997, Jonas joined Teach For America, and taught fourth grade for three years at General Rosecrans Elementary School in Compton, California. He served as a member of the school’s leadership team, as the union representative, coach of the league champion soccer team, founder of the chess club, and discipline action committee chairperson.
While teaching, Jonas earned his teaching credential and Master’s of Education degree in curriculum and instruction from Chapman University. He also worked at the Teach For America Summer Institute in Houston, two summers as a corps member advisor and one as a curriculum specialist. After his time in Los Angeles, Jonas attended the Harvard University Graduate School of Education for his principalship certification and a Master’s Degree in School Leadership.
From 2001 through 2005, he led Teach For America’s Houston region through a successful period of growth as its executive director. Jonas serves on the board of the Texas Public Education Reform Foundation, Texas Lyceum Association, British-American Project, and, in addition to his full time duties at CSPI, is earning his doctorate as part of the University of Texas at Austin’s Cooperative Superintendency Program.

Laura Minnigerode
Laura Minnigerode became CSPI’s Policy and Research Fellow in June 2007. She began her career in education working as a researcher at the Children's Television Workshop, and later at WGBH Boston. Her interest in education and media led her to the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where she earned a Master's degree, focusing on design and evaluation of instructional media. After being involved in a variety of educational media and research projects, she earned a teaching credential and taught middle school in public and private schools in California. Later, she worked with the Houston Annenberg Project in Houston ISD as an Institute Leader at Robert Browning Elementary.

Lauren Sutherland
Lauren Sutherland joined CSPI as Office Manager/Executive Assistant in May 2007, bringing with her seven years of experience in human resources and office management, most recently at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Inc. Prior to her position at AMD, she was the director of administrative services for ABC Behavioral Health, LLC, a non-profit organization serving severely mentally ill and homeless clients. Lauren earned her B.A. and Master’s in Public Administration from the University of North Texas.
